An affordable gem in Ohio’s “Vacation Land”
Middle Bass Island, Ohio is a rare find amid vacation communities in the U.S. today. If you love the hustle and bustle of crowds, packs of golf carts, and lots of billboards then M.B.I. is not for you.
M.B.I. is essentially a small town. It has a general store, three restaurants, a campground, an amazing state park marina, and lots of friendly people.
The island has a town hall with scheduled events, a one room school house that still holds summer camps, and a ball field for participation in an Ohio Island softball league. There is even an annual Barbershop Quartet event and the annual Middle Bass Island Music Festival.
Middle Bass can be reached by passenger and car service through Millers Ferry leaving the southern tip of Catawba Island. You can also reach the island by plane from the Erie-Ottawa International Airport in Port Clinton, or private boat or plane.
Looking for some excitement? Island hopping over to the Village of Put-in-Bay on the Sonny S is a quick trip. Beautiful South Bass Island is filled with shopping opportunities, dining, music, and events. The Sonny S runs all season between the Middle Bass Ferry dock and the Boardwalk pier.
Visit www.MiddleBassIsland.info for more information and to view many of the homes currently listed for sale. The island is only approximately 2 miles long, but homes regularly come on the market and pocket listings are occasionally available.
